Cavern of Babel on Amazon

That’s right–it’s official. We’ve joined the ranks of Amazon. So for all you peoples out there who have been waiting for the right time to buy the book for all your friends and relations, you can now buy to your heart’s content. Just search for Cavern of Babel. (Of course, if you email me, I might be able to cut you a better deal than Amazon.) In other news, I found out today that university library jobs take a looooong time to make hiring decisions. Website Update

Today I posted two new pages on my website, both Buttersby related.  The first is the commentary for chapter thirteen, and the second is a deleted scene from Cavern of Babel, back from the first draft of the book.  Good times. Not much else happening right now.  I’m just enjoying being at home, where the temperature is NOT 93 degrees.  In fact, I think I should make that one of my new life goals.  Never work in a place that’s 93 degrees inside.  Honestly, aren’t there labor laws that enforce that?  There ought to be.

Cavern of Babel Commentary Up

I’m already up to chapter twelve.  That means I’ve been doing this for something like four months.  Crazy.  This week’s talks about the origins of the alpaca flood tale.  Enjoy. In other news, I’ve been ramping up my involvement for this year’s upcoming BYU’s Writing for Young Readers conference.  If any of you out there are interested in learning more about writing for children and young adults (or illustrating), then this is one of the best conferences you can go to.  It’s pricey ($430 or so), but compared to other conferences, that’s really not much for the caliber of instructors

Funerals (and a Buttersby Commentary)

Funerals, on the other hand, aren’t as bad as viewings.  I can see the point, at least, and there’s a sense of finality that is good for people, in my opinion.  I think it might be better for me if I were the type of person who cried.  I’m not a crier.  I haven’t cried in at least five years, as best as I can recall.  The last time I cried, I was really overstressed and the death of my dog a year before finally caught up to me.  That’s right.  That’s how repressed I am.  And I don’t really
