"Diet" Update: Week 20

Bonus points to whomever can name the movie.

So. The diet. If you’ll recall, I sort of committed a few weeks ago to trying to just maintain my current weight instead of keepin’ on losin’. When last we met, that wasn’t going so well. I’d put on something like 3.8 pounds in the course of two weeks.

Now here we are, 2 weeks later. And in those two weeks, I’ve gone to a national conference, eaten some big steaks, started baking again, and not been able to exercise as much as I’d like (because it’s hotter than hades out here). I’d even stopped weighing myself every day for a week or so of that.

Ruh-roh, right?

I’ve been continuing to eat light breakfasts and lunches, but I’ve thrown caution to the wind (more or less) at dinner. And the result, two weeks later?

191.2

This means I’ve actually lost 1.4 pounds over the last two weeks. But I’m choosing to look at it more from a “I’ve settled in at around 192 pounds” rather than I’ve been losing more weight.

On the one hand, that’s good. I’m maintaining, not gaining, and 192 is technically a “normal” weight for me. So I’m very happy about that. But It’s 2.8 pounds away from “overweight,” and I’d really like to be further away from that boundary. However, I’ve got another conference this weekend, and then I’m traipsing off to Pennsylvania for a week at the end of this month.

I know from experience that a diet where I do a lot of starting and stopping might as well be no diet at all. So my current plan is to keep doing what I’m doing, and then when I’m back from PA, go back on the diet to get down the rest of the way to 185 and stop there. I think that should be very doable, and not too difficult, but maybe I’m overestimating my will power. We shall see.

In the meantime, expect to see no updates on Bryce’s Weight until mid-August, where I’ll do a new weigh in and hold myself accountable for all the garbage I’ve eaten between now and then. The goal? Still be around 192.

Wish me luck.
