Denisa and Michaela have been gone to Young Women’s Camp since Tuesday, so it’s just been me at home with Tomas and Daniela. It’s been fun hanging out with them (when I’ve been home). A very different experience than what it was like a while ago.
Daniela, when hearing it was just going to be the three of us, excitedly reminisced what we did the last time this happened. I’ll admit I don’t really remember any of this, but it certainly sounds like something I would have done. The kids rushed in to the TV room and asked if, since Mom was gone, we could eat boxed mac and cheese and drink Kool-aid all the time? I said, “Do you see Mom anywhere?” They said, “No.” So I said, “Then mac and cheese it is!”
There was much rejoicing.
So naturally, the first thing we did on Tuesday afternoon was head to the store to get boxed mac and cheese and Kool-aid. Tomas went with a blue flavor, and Daniela picked out something red. I’m not sure it quite lived up to their memories, alas. The blue Kool-aid was a hit, but neither of them liked the red stuff very much. (Tomas volunteered to finish all of it so they could make more of the blue stuff. Way to take one for the team.)
Other than that, we’ve watched some movies and played some video games, and . . . worked. All three of us have jobs, so it’s not like it’s just been one long hang out and do nothing week. Of course, I’ve also ended up eating more than I should have, because I wanted to be part of the fun as well. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s easier to subsist on artificial food when you’re younger than when you’re older, though I might need to conduct further research in the future to confirm this.
Denisa comes home today, which should reintroduce vegetables into the diet. (Though surprisingly, Daniela and Tomas both did so of their own accord, adding cucumbers to spread each night. This is not something that would occur to me, so clearly Denisa has been having a lasting influence on them.)
