Lord of the Rings in 4k

Hiya everybody! Did you miss me? I’ve been off on vacation for the last two weeks, but I’m back now and gearing up to get into the swing of things again. Not too much time today to post, but I wanted to report out on an experiment of sorts I did over the break. Each Christmas vacation for the past long while, we’ve picked a movie series to binge. We’ve done The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings twice before, actually, but it’s a favorite, so we decided to do it one more time. (All 6 movies. The extended versions.)

Officially TikTokking

Well, I finally went and did it. I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was considering starting a TikTok account as an author, and I decided to follow through on it. Yesterday I put up my first two posts. (I’m @bmoorebooks, in case you want to follow me over there.) This is kind of backward from the way I’d usually approach social media. I like to have a good feel for a platform before I really do anything with it, just to make sure I don’t do or say something that makes me look foolish, since it might be

To Tiktok or Not Tok?

I have, for the most part, completely and utterly ignored Tiktok. Most of my knowledge of the site is basically that it inspires teens to do idiotic challenges that often result in property damage, injury, or death. That’s a bit tongue in cheek, but not quite as much as you might think. I’ve seen some various posts on the platform. My niece has a pretty big following for music over there. But for the most part, I just decided it was one social media platform too far for me and so I washed my hands of it. However. Lately I’ve

Apple Watch: Seven Years On

With the announcement of the latest update to the Apple Watch line, I started wondering just how long it’s been that I’ve had mine. A little bit of spelunking in my Gmail got me the answer: 7 years. That’s pretty surprising, honestly. Am I still happy with it? Do I want to get a new one? First, the happiness scale. Overall, I don’t have a ton of complaints, though I don’t know how much I’m really putting the watch to use. For reference, I’ve got a series 1, so it doesn’t get any older than what I’m using. I put

Advanced Ethernetting

I wrote a while ago about upgrading my internet speeds at home. When I did that, I swapped out my Eero, as well, all of it in hopes that I’d be able to get a steady, consistent speed up in my movie room. (The internet comes into the house in the office, where I have my main computer. The movie room is on the complete other side of the house, and it’s where almost all of the streaming is done, plus video game consoles. Having bad internet there is . . . much less than good.) Unfortunately, my 1843 house’s
