Final total for the first draft: 68,500 words. And it took me 58 days to write it. Looking at it as a whole, I’m pleased with it. All the big elements are in places. It feels sort of like a rough sculpture. You can tell what it is at this point, but it’s going to need a lot of work before it’s polished. Still, it’s an accomplishment–nine books done. Now to get some more of them in submission-worthy shape.
