Saturday evening I played one of the coolest board games I’ve ever had the chance to play: War of the Ring. Basically, it’s a game that begins when the Fellowship of the Ring is in Rivendell. One side controls the good guys and one side controls the bad guys, and then you play to see which side wins. Politics, destroying the ring, being corrupted by the ring–it’s all in there. Massive battles led by Aragorn or Gandalf? Check. Nazgul flying all over the place? Check. It was just so darn cool. Of course, it took two hours to figure out how to play it, and then four hours to play, but it was such a blast. I must play it again.
Soon.
